A virtual card represents a specific monetary amount
An Amazon virtual gift card supplies a digital claim code rather than requiring a physical card. Amazonโs digital gift-card documentation associates each code with an amount and an issuing currency. Its country table lists distinct currencies, including GBP for the United Kingdom, EGP for Egypt and SAR for Saudi Arabia.
Choose the recipientโs shopping marketplace before comparing denominations. The amount printed on a card is its native value; a storeโs USD payment price is a separate figure. Digital delivery alone does not establish that the balance is usable in another country.
Follow the marketplace named in the terms
Amazon.co.ukโs terms provide a useful concrete example: eligible purchases reduce the recipientโs UK gift-card balance, and unused value remains in that Amazon.co.uk account. Those terms exclude use on other named Amazon websites and prohibit transferring unused balance to another UK account.
For a US, Egyptian or other marketplace variant, open its applicable issuer terms rather than borrowing the UK rules. Verify the website, country and currency together before redemption. An Amazon logo on two cards is insufficient evidence that their balances can be combined.
Standard gift cards and restricted vouchers differ
Amazon also documents Product Vouchers designed for a predetermined set of eligible items. A health-focused voucher, for example, is restricted to qualifying products. That is a different specification from simply reading an Amazon gift-card cash amount, and available voucher types vary by marketplace.
Amazon Pay adds another distinction: Amazonโs payment-method guidance says an Amazon.com Gift Card cannot fund an Amazon Pay order with a third-party merchant. Seeing an Amazon Pay button elsewhere therefore does not establish gift-card acceptance.
Read the balance and validity conditions locally
The UK terms allow another payment method for an order above the available balance and set a ten-year validity period for covered cards. Amazonโs digital documentation lists different expiration treatment for other issuing countries. Avoid turning one marketplaceโs expiration rule into a promise about every Amazon card.
